✦ What "Closed Species" means?
There's a lot of created species out there. All have a classification:
Open species: Means anyone can create one for themselves for free.
Semi-open species: Means anyone can create one for themselves for free but some features are only available if purchased.
Closed species: Means you can't draw one for yourself unless you have a MYO slot.
✦ Does it means I can't draw a Hornthropod for myself?
Yes, you can not draw a Hornthropod unless you have a MYO slot.
✦ What "MYO" means?
Make Your Own. Means you can draw a Hornthropod by yourself. Learn more about it in this info: www.deviantart.com/hornthropod…
✦ Can I commission other artists to create a Hornthropod for me?
If you have a MYO, sure! Just both of you (you and the artist) must have in mind that if your design is not approved for some reason the commissioned artist must change the design for it to be approved.
✦ Is there other ways for me to get a Hornthropod?
Yes! You can also get Hornthropods in the following methods:
• By buying official adopts on official sales. We always host our sales on our Discord server, so feel free to join if you'd like to get one!
• By buying one in the Gatcha event. This is an event that happens every year but not in a specific date, so keep an eye on the group announcements!
• By buying a custom slot with Gosetsuki or LightGem. We will eventually sell a custom slot on our discord server, but this is a very rare occasion.
• By buying one from another members that put their Hornthropods for sale or even trade;
• By winning a free first time owner MYO in our discord raffle;
• By winning a MYO or a premade adopt on the species events.
✦ What does FTO means?
FTOs means First Time Owners. These are people who have never owned a Hornthropod and don't own one at the momemt.
✦ Is there a limit to how many Hornthropods I can own?
There's not a limit! You can own as many as you can get.
✦ I got a MYO, how can I have my design on the masterlist?
All you need to do is follow the rules found in the MYO Approval Center!
✦ How do I update the Masterlist Image of my Hornthropod?
If you have a premade design/a design that's already on the masterlist and you'd like to update their image for a new one, all you need to do is following the rules found in the Masterlist Info and Updates!
✦ Do I need to wait for my masterlist to be updated before I use my Hornthropod?
You don't need to wait to use them if you're waiting to have your Hornthropod in your ownership or waiting to have something fixed in their masterlist description. We just ask to wait to use your Hornthropod if their design is not updated. Outdated designs/designs that isn't on the masterlist cannot be used on events or gift art, and also cannot be showed off before it's on the masterlist. We have specific rules about it, so please be sure to check all the Species Rules to check it out.
✦ Do the species have cooldowns? Such as for trades, for masterlist image updates, etc?
Nope! You can do those when you want to.
✦ How much my Hornthropod worth?
All the Hornthropods have their base worth on their masterlist, some may be stated as $0, this is stated like this when a Hornthropod was obtained with a free method. But remember that payed art can increase the Hornthropod value! So even if you own a $0 Hornthropod they can worth a lot depending on how much you spend on art for them.
✦ I changed my username/moved accounts, how can I have my username updated on my Hornthropod's masterlist?
If you have just changed your username and kept your account you can go to the Masterlist Info and Updates journal, to the Corrections section and reply to the right comment asking to have your username updated in your Hornthropod's masterlist. Just link all your masterlists and we'll update it all for you! It's also very important to ask for your treasury/inventory to be updated to avoid confusion.
If you moved accounts, please make sure to contact us with screenshots as proofs (such as the Deviantart account deactivation email) to have your Masterlist updated!
✦ What are Crystalias and how can I get and use this?
Crystalias are the species currency, they can be obtained in the Gift Art Event or in other species events. The currency can be used to buy species items, MYOs or even to get other stuff with users if they're accepting Crystalias.
✦ What are Empty Gems and how can I get and use this?
Empty Gems are the species event currency, they can be obtained in specific species events. The currency can be used to buy special species items or even to get other stuff with users if they're accepting Empty Gems.
Species Questions
✦ What is the correct way to call a Hornthropod?
It can be just "Hornthropod" or "Horned" for short. Please do not call them "Horns", it can be confusing since Hornthropods have horns and we may not know if you're talking about the Hornthropod itself of a body part. If you'd like to specify their arthropod species while describing them you can call them "[Arthropod species] Hornthropod" or "Horned [Arthropod species]". Elafrý for example is a damselfly, they can be called "Damselfly Hornthropod" or "Horned Damselfly".
✦ How does Hornthropods smells like?
They can have any smell you want them to have, but specific themed Horneds may have the same smell as their theme. For example: A strawberry cake themed Horned will smell like a strawberry cake.
✦ How long the Hornthropod's tail take to be fully regenerate?
3 weeks for Horneds with a standard tail, 6 for medium sized-tails, 9 for long-sized tails and 12 for oversized tails.
✦ Can Hornthropods of the same sex have babies?
They can not have babies in a biological way, but they can get an egg from another Hornthropod to have them as their own egg. If the new parents offer some matiz berries for the great spirit Matiz and kindly energize the egg with their spiritual Gem powers, the baby will born with some features of their parents.
✦ Can my Hornthropod have a relationship with other species?
Yes they can! You're free to pair your Hornthropods with other anthro species, although they can't have babies with other species, they're only able to have babies with other Hornthropods. You're free to give them an adopted baby tho. Just be sure to not pair them with feral characters.
✦ Can my Faethropod have a relationship with a standard-sized Hornthropod or a Megatrhopod?
No they can't. Faethropods can only have a relationship with another Faethropods. This rule exists because Faethropods will always be small and chibi looking even when they're fully adults. They can also have a relationship with another species if they're also small and cute/chibi looking. NSFW art of Faethropods is also not allowed.
✦ How is the Gemmer's Cannyon aesthetics?
The aesthetics may vary since the canyon is a big place. It will depend on the Hornthropod's taste. So if you'd like to have a Hornthropod with a futuristic house you can do it!
✦ Is there official pets for Hornthropods?
No, we don't have official pets. You're free to create your own pet the way you'd like!
Design Questions
✦ Does my Hornthropod must be based on an in real life arthropod or can they be based on a fantasy creature?
They must be based on an in real life creature, such as a bee, butterfly, spider, shrimp, etc, and this is something that goes to the masterlist. But you can make them inspired on fantasy arthropods if you'd like to (such as a skulltula from Zelda), you just need to pick an in real life species for them (such as a spiny orb-weaver) and follow the rules to make them different enought to pass as an inspiration and not a copy of the fantasy character.
✦ Can I turn my one off character into a Hornthropod?
Yes you can! Your characters will have a bound (they cannot be traded/sold separately) and you just need a MYO to turn your one off into a Horned.
✦ Can I change the spiritual Gem power of my existing Hornthropod?
You can't do this. There's a way to change the secondary spiritual Gem power in a single case: When your Hornthropod got the Binary Gem trait in a redesign. In this case you just need to get a new Blessed Gem and ask for their secondary spiritual Gem power (the one that was added with their redesign) to be updated for a new one. But if your Hornthropod's original design already have a binary Gem you can't change their secondary spiritual Gem power.
✦ Does the shape of the Gem influences their power? Rarest shaped Gems are stronger than common shaped Gems?
It doesn't. The shape of the Gem is only aesthetic. All Hornthropods have mild spiritual powers. The only gems that can grants a stronger power for Hornthropod is the Druse Gem (overpowered abilities).
✦ Can a Horned Crustacean have a full floating Gem if they have pearls inside it?
All Horned Crustaceans with a pearl inside of its Gem have a Hollow Gem. If their Gem is Hollow there's now way to make it full or if it's full there's no way to get their pearl inside.
✦ Can a Hollow Gem or a Raw Gem also be geometric or special shaped?
Yep! These traits can be combined, you just need to have the right amount of traits and the right trait tiers to do it. So, for example, a flower shaped Gem can be raw or hollow if you want to.
✦ Can I swap out traits traits of the same rarity?
No, you can't do this. If you'd like to change a geometric Gem shape for another geometric shape you can tho! But this is something that can be done with a very few traits, so please check out the Redesign Rules for more info.
✦ Can a Horned Crustacean be terrestrial or only aquatic?
They can be terrestrial too, all kinds of crustaceans are allowed.
✦ On a Hornthropod with floating horns trait, how does their horns float?
Inside of their floating horns there are small inner gems, this gems doesn't replace the main floating Gem between their horns and can't provide them any other spiritual power other than making their horns float.
✦ On a Horned with floating wings trait, how does their wings float?
On the base of their wings they are small inner gems just as the inner gems of Horned Arachnids with floating horns trait, this gems doesn't replace the main floating Gem between their horns and can't provide them any other spiritual power other than making their wings float.
✦ Can a Mutating Gem trait make the Gem change its shape at will?
No. It can rotate on axis itself, change its own color or even be merged with other Gem if Binary (which can result on a mixed and stronger Spiritual Power), but can't mutate it's own original shape.
✦ If a Hornthropod has one color on their wings and another color on the back side of their wings, does it counts as a Multicolored Wings trait?
No, it doesn't. Only if they have more than one color in the same side of their wings.
✦ How big or small can wings be?
It cannot be too big that it's hard to identify the Hornthropod on a sillhouette nor too small that we can't properly see the wings.
